Roberto Buttus
ROBERTO BUTTUS comes to life with a great passion for the saxophone, the instrument he began playing since he was a child.
Always interested in mechanics in 1981 he decides to start working as apprentice in Verona where he found wise guidance at first under Italo De Bernardi and then under Bruno Martini.
He made his first steps into the world of wind instrument repair.
In 1989 Roberto decided to open a small wind instrument repair workshop and through his skills realized the important need for further specialization and follow-up. That's it! Bag in hand and full of enthusiasm Roberto left for Paris and then on to Germany. There he had the opportunity to improve his skills on wind instrument repair by working hard in well known factories specialised in wind-instruments reparation.
In 1994, while working in Paris he met Marcel Jansen and together they began a creative partnership which in 1997 led to the birth of a new challenge: inventing a new saxophone capable of revealing a "sound coming from the soul"......... from passion, intuition, creativity and hard work the saxophone SEQUOIA was born!
The now expanded workshop, Buttus, has become not only a place where the instruments can be repaired but also a supporting environment where musicians and beginners meet together and exchange opinions by playing the saxophones Sequoia.
After encountering the Buttus workshop, the Slovenian musician, Lev Pupis, said "it's a place filled with inspiration, as if I was receiving a valuable lesson from Master Roberto."
